¡°Happy Chinese Spring Festival and Joy in Nepalese School¡± Series of Activities Held in Nepal

During the 2011 Chinese New Year, Chinese volunteer teachers organized colorful activities in 6 Nepalese schools, including Chinese food culture festivals, ¡°China day¡±, gatherings for teachers and studentsas well as entertainment for the gatherings. The schools were decorated with red spring couplets and Chinese knots as well as colorful pictures and lanterns, lending a cheerful and bustling atmosphere to the occasion.

On Jan. 29th, 2011, the first session of the celebrations ¡ª a Chinese food culture festival was successfully held at the Valley View English School in Kathmandu. The volunteers made thorough preparations for the event and presented a colorful display of Chinese cuisine and snacks. They also taught the students how to make dumplings. The event raised the curtains for the Spring Festival celebrations.

On Feb. 9th, 2011, a China Day with the theme of ¡°Happy Chinese Spring Festival and Joy in Nepalese School¡± was held at the Ruby International School in Kathmandu. The Ruby International students showcased Chinese dishes they made themselves and winners were chosen for best dish. Meanwhile, the students, together with teachers and students from other schools in Kathmandu staged splendid performances, such as Chinese songs, dances and martial arts, and won rounds of cheers and applause.

On Feb. 13th, 2011, a teacher-student gathering with the theme of ¡°Happy Chinese Spring Festival¡± was held at the Malpi International School. The event consisted of a Spring Festival picture exhibition, Spring Festival poster exhibition and interactive games, through which the students got a clearer understanding of the traditional Chinese festival and also had a real taste of the festive atmosphere of the occasion.

On Feb. 13th, 2011, the volunteers organised a Spring Festival celebration at EPS School in Katmandu. The teachers together with EPS students presented excellent performances including dances, songs and martial arts and drew much applause from the audience.
