Confucius Institute at Texas A&M University Visits the Consulate-General of the PRC in Houston
On August 21st, Dr. Robert Shandley, new Director of Confucius Institute at Texas A&M University (TAMU), Zhou Hong, Chinese Director and Yang Qian, a Chinese language teacher visited the Consulate-General of the PRC in Houston. The visit was welcomed by Wang Yu,Deputy Consul General, Long Jie, Counsellor for Education and Wang Yi, Consul for Education.
Meeting with Mr. Wang Yu
During the meeting, Wang Yu warmly welcomed the TAMU staff and appreciated CI¡¯s relentless efforts on promoting the mutual understanding and collaboration between China and the U.S. Wang also wish CI seize the opportunity of our time and face its challenges.
Dr. Shandley introduced the new plans of CI. He emphasized on letting CI¡¯s job become more publicly accountable, more collaborations with various department on TAMU campus, more collaborations with the local community. Dr. Shandley also pointed out that the main future goal for CI is to develop more mutual interests. He wishes to make CI¡¯s purpose and function known more by the university through more frequent communication on higher administrative levels.
Visiting the Education Division
After the meeting, CI staff also visited the Education Division and talked with Long Jie and all other consuls. Long Jie made constructive advices that benefit the work of CI.
