Vice President Wang Qishan Visits Belarusian State University
Vice President Wang Qishan paid a visit to Belarus from May 27th to May 29th, during which he visited Belarusian State University.
Andrey Dmitrievich Korol, Rector of Belarusian State University, introduced the role of Belarusian State University in the development of the higher education system of the country and the Belarusian Sinology School to Wang Qishan, and said that Belarusian State University is an important platform for the cooperation in higher education and science between Belarus, Eastern Europe as well as Commonwealth of Independent States and China.
Anatoli Tozik, Director of Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology at Belarusian State University, reported to Wang Qishan what the Confucius Institute has done for the development of Chinese teaching and the transmission of Chinese culture, as well as its important role in the plan of training Chinese teachers for middle schools in Belarus and the establishment of the Belarusian Sinology School. As the Sinology research center in Belarus, Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology at Belarusian State University organizes two international symposiums which have great influence in Belarus every year. The themes of the symposiums include the construction of the ¡°Belt and Road¡±, the cooperation in and development of higher education between Belarus and China, and the introduction of China¡¯s experience of reform and opening up. Nearly a hundred famous experts from China and Commonwealth of Independent States will be invited to attend the symposiums.
Wang Qishan spoke highly of the achievements of Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology at Belarusian State University in international education of Chinese language and the transmission of Chinese culture as well as promotion of bilateral cultural exchanges. He hoped that Director Anatoli Tozik, who is also the former Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, will play his role in attracting more investment to facilitate the completion of the Model Confucius Institute at Belarusian State University at an early date. He also hoped that the Confucius Institute will play a greater bridging role in promoting economic, trade and cultural exchanges, as well as technological cooperation between China and Belarus.
