2018 Joint Conference of Confucius Institutes in France Kicks off
From June 28th to 29th, the 2018 Joint Conference of Confucius Institutes in France organized by the Confucius Institute C?te dĄŻAzur was held at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis. A total of 31 people attended the conference, of whom 23 representatives are from 12 Confucius Institutes in France and the rest from relevant institutions. Zhao Guocheng, Deputy Chief Executive of the Confucius Institute Headquarters and Deputy Director-General of Hanban, together with Yang Jin, Minister Counselor of the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in France, Emmanuel Tric, President of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, and Jean-Christrophe Martin, Vice President of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, attended and addressed the conference.

Zhao Guocheng noted in his remarks that through the development over the past 14 years, Confucius Institutes have developed rapidly. The key issue concerning further improving the standard of Confucius Institutes is how to achieve high-quality development, integrate Confucius Institutes into the local community as well as provide services for local residents. The Confucius Institute Headquarters will enhance the quality of the Confucius Institutes by improving the standard system and the quality evaluation system, building a qualified team of Chinese and foreign teachers as well as full-time teachers and part-time teachers, promoting the international Chinese textbooks as well as encouraging innovative teaching methods. He hoped that the representatives attending the conference would focus on the theme and provide practical suggestions on the development of Confucius Institutes based on practical work.

Director of a French Confucius Institute sharing experience
Representatives focused on how to upgrade the evaluation system and improve the quality of running Confucius Institutes. They shared experience and had a heated discussion, offering many constructive suggestions on Chinese language course standards, the evaluation system of Chinese language courses, sharing of cultural resources and the evaluation system of cultural activities. The conference also had discussions on the improvement of trainings for Chinese teachers and promotion of the HSK exam.
